Move over Victoria Beckham and Coleen Mary Rooney as Brand new WAGs provide the eye candy this football season

This beauty has even surpassed Posh. After appearing in a popular fashion magazine, Ilary Blasi, wife of Francesco Totti, is the latest WAG who is making waves, literally. Ilary is an actress-turned-showgirl-turned-WAG-turned-television personality. She had married the Italian striker in 2005 and the ceremony was streamed live throughout Italy.


Elen Rives
She is Frank Lampard’s ex-fiancée. Elen Rives accused the Chelsea midfielder of turning their former home into a bachelor pad and flaunting his new girlfriend. She cried foul when she was thrown out of the couple’s £8.5 million townhouse after their split. This Spanish beauty now lives in a flat with their daughters Luna, two, and Isla, one, while Frank continues with his usual bouts of philandering.

Melanie Slade
Best known as the girlfriend of Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott, Melanie Slade became an overnight celeb when her footballer boyfriend Theo Walcott was named in his World Cup squad even though he had yet to play a Premier League game.

Abigail Clancy
She was in the news during the 2006 FIFA World Cup as the girlfriend of England football star Peter Crouch. Also known as Abbey Clancy, Abigail Rose Clancy is an English lingerie and catwalk model. She became a full-fledged WAG when striker Peter Crouch signed up for Liverpool. She was however dumped by Crouch via fax after reports of her trying her hands at coke surfaced. Crouch issued a statement via his lawyer disclaiming any further involvement with her.

Cheryl Cole
The Coles have split now. But just days after Cheryl filed for divorce, the flamboyant footballer Ashley was spotted exchanging text messages with former lap dancer Sarah Purnell, supposedly a Cheryl Cole look-alike. Though Cheryl played her role of a perfect WAG and was even seen attending her beau’s December 2009 football matches, the relationship fell into trouble after Ashley’s affair with hairdresser Aimee Walton cropped up.

Like her husband, she believes in kicking it hard. Sonia Booth, famously known as Queen of the South African WAGs and wife of Bafana Bafana centre-back Matthew Booth, she has become the Unexpected Face of South Africa’s 2010 World Cup Charge. Clearly her husband Matthew is not one of football’s biggest names yet, but his wife, a former beauty queen, has been surely scoring goals with the Africans and the world at large.
